How to sort out ownership of NI automobile?

I swapped my old van and SUV for an 09 Hyundai Coupe on NI plates and I filled out the log book when I bought it and sent it away to Swansea like it said on it. They have sent it back saying that I need to sort out the log book over in Ireland. Where do I go to do something like that?

Can I get short-term insurance for an import?

Hi, I have purchased a automobile in the UK and paid the VRT here. When I rang about ta it I was told I have to have insurance first and give them the policy number and date of expiry. When I rang an insurance company I was informed that the automobile would have to be taxed first - so checkmate.

Is there a solution to this problem? I only want to insure it for a short while as I bought it to sell it and long term insurance would eat up any profit I hope to make.

Should I import a high-spec Insignia from UK?

I'm looking at buying a used automobile in the UK. We need a spacious, reliable and safe family automobile. The Vauxhall Insignia seems really great value for money. High spec models even. Are there any glaring problems with them? Say 2010 - 2011. They are cheaper than the Mondeo and Passat.

Can I reclaim UK VAT on exporting a new automobile?

I'm thinking of importing a new automobile from the UK. I am aware that I will need to pay VRT and VAT in Ireland. My question is whether I will be able to reclaim the UK VAT if I export the automobile immediately on purchase.

How can I import a commercial SUV?

Hi guys,

Really hoping that you can help me with this one. I'm hoping to import an SUV (either Volkswagen Touareg or Mercedes-Benz ML 280) from the UK and register it as a commercial vehicle. The most ideal situation would be to import it, get the crewcab conversion and register it as a five-seater crewcab (I'm one of the few who would very genuinely need both five seats for crew and the ability to drop them and use as a commercial through my job in events), but will settle for two seats and commercial tax.

There do not seem to be any of those SUVs in the UK that are non-passenger versions (I presume due to the UK not having a commercial SUV as such) so I'm just wondering what steps I will need to take to get the lower tax rate and import as commercial.

Please let me know, as your help will be much appreciated.
