Your article on Commercial Vehicles for private use focuses on large commercial vehicles. In my case, I'm just looking for a very inexpensive automobile e.g. a 2017 SEAT Ibiza with the back seats removed that is currently classified as a Commercial Vehicle and taxed and registered as such. However, I'm wondering if I could insure, tax and register it as a private vehicle? What would I have to do in order to do so?

Just wondering whether it is possible to convert an estate/touring/wagon into full commercial vehicle to avail of the €333 rate of tax etc? If so, what do the dimensions of the space in the back need to be and are there any other requirements and stipulations such as no spare wheel?

I have a Toyota RAV4 for private use and I use it going to work everyday and now I’m planning to change my RAV4 for a Hilux pick-up. Is it possible for me to buy this automobile? I’m going to use for work as property maintenance and the same time I will use as the family automobile. I’m not VAT-registered, I’m only self employed with pay-as-you-earn business. Your thoughts?

I'm 21 years old and working with my father on our farm. We are registered for VAT and I am wanting to buy a Range Rover Sport. Its a five-seater 3.0-litre TDV6, but you can VRT it as a commercial for €918. How can I get commercial insurance under my own name and commercial tax? Will I have to VRT it through the company?

I have a question in relation to insuring an SUV on a private policy and ta it as commercial. The details of it are: I work as a sole trader and have a company registered etc so all the paper work is covered. However, I need a automobile for private use and for automobilerying equipment for work etc. The insurance company have told me the only way to have any private use of a commercial SUV would be to insure it privately with a clause for it to have work use also. I'm trying to find out if I insure it as private will I also have to tax it as private, even though it is a commercial vehicle and primarily used for business. My only other option is to run and insure two different vehicles, only able to use my no-claims discount on one, making it extremely expensive.

Read your article about commercial vehicles with interest. Just wondering how these crew cab pick-ups would compare to the Land Rover Discovery Commercial. As a daily driver that is. Are the refinement levels of the Discovery still far beyond these?
