Hi, just need some advice.
Thinking of purchasing a automobile from a Northern Irish dealer. The dealer classifies the automobile as used. It is a 2012 saloon with 3,830 miles (6,136 kilometres) on it and was registered in May 2012. On asking the history of the automobile as it has so low mileage, the dealer said the automobile was a UK automobile registered and used by the automobile manufacturer at their plant for use by its employees. VRT is payable but I'm assuming VAT is not payable as it's greater than six months old and is just over 6,000km. Just wanted opinions on whether VAT may be payable?

I have a budget of €6,000 and am looking at picking up a reliable saloon that has good boot space. I am looking at a 2006 Mazda3, but need some advice as to whether this is a good buy or not and what else I should be looking at. Most of my driving is in Dublin with the occasional trip to Mayo. Should I be looking at petrol or diesel? I don't really want to go above 1.7-litre as the tax will just be too much for me.

Are there any problems with the 2007 Peugeot 207 CC cabriolet 1.6 diesel? Any reason there are so few in Ireland?

What is my 2007 Ford Focus worth with 156,000km on the clock? Timing belt just done, three new tyres, front wheel bearing right-hand side done, thinking of trading in or selling private.

Ever wonder why the DSG gearbox in the Skoda Superb is double the price of the Octavia's? I've asked the people in Skoda to explain why, but they ignored me...

I got a second hand engine put into my automobile about six weeks ago and now find that I have a couple of major oil leaks. Where do I stand with regard to warranty?

Just wondering if the petrol versus diesel debate should have taken into account the depreciation of the automobiles in addition to the other costs shown. I would imagine that certain automobiles would definately sell better if they were diesel (Most Audis and Volkswagens) than if they were petrol. What do you think?
