I want to buy a 2005 Toyota RAV4 4x4 2.0 D-4D (for lower tax). Are they underpowered with this engine? I need it to tow a large automobileavan. What do you thunk of these automobiles? I was also thinking of a 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe, but I have heard they can give terrible expensive clutch/flywheel trouble.
With regard to the RAV4, because they are permanent four-wheel drive (as opposed to part-time in the Santa Fe) would they be more expensive on tyres, tracking, suspension, etc?

Hi, we just had our second kid so in the market for a seven-seater. The Ford S-MAX comes highly recommended from friends. We've been offered a 2.0-litre S-MAX Zetec TDCi with 140hp, registered in March 10, with 28k miles on the clock, privacy glass and rear parking sensors for €24,500 in a straight deal (i.e. no trade-in). It has dual-zone climate control and electric windows so is a decent spec and is a UK import. I'd like your opinion on the S-MAX as a family automobile and on the price?

Looking closely at a 2010 Volkswagen Passat, powered by the 1.6 diesel engine. It's the Highline model with great spec. My only concern is with the 1.6 engine: is it big enough for this automobile? Will I be dropping the gears to overtake etc?

I'm intending to buy the new BMW 3 Series (F30), but I don’t know if I should go for a 318d 136hp or a 316d 116hp with a better pack of options. I’m a calm driver, but I’m afraid that this difference of power could make a huge difference concerning the comfort. Could you please advise me?
Kind regards, Fernando.

Which Renault Fluence to buy - 90- or 110hp?
There is a 700 Euro difference in price, just wondering if it's worth it or not. On the face of it the vast bulk of Fluences are 90hp, just wondering is the 110hp model a better buy, even for resale later, as it will be a lot rarer. Also, two unconnected Renault dealers are pushing much harder on the 90hp version, which says to me that the 110hp is like a special order for them. They are almost dismissing it as an option, which is odd, or maybe they are looking after me!
Is there any servicing/maintenance differences between the two different engine types? One last thing, problems with DPF, apparently it's a problem if you only drive a diesel automobile on solely short journeys. Is it a major issue or storm in a teacup?
