changagoidem Features | changagoidem.ie in China - day 2 - the Great Wall

Not quite sure where to start, as it's been an amazing day. Before I get into that, here's a couple of subtle Ferraris we found parked near our hotel in Beijing. In case you can't make it out in the picture, that California is finished in matte purple...

So, day two starting with us receiving our Chinese driving licences. Or at least that's what they tell me is written on the new photoautomobileds:

Then it was revealed that we'd be visiting the Great Wall of China. This was a complete surprise and made the jet lag seem worthwhile.…

Perhaps the ultimate bling security automobile?

changagoidem Features | Perhaps the ultimate bling security automobile?

I spotted this today near a beach in Bettystown, Co. Meath. It is perhaps the most tricked out (in a crashed into Halfords kind of way) security van we have seen in some time.

It takes your basic Nissan Almera Van and adds chrome spinners, flashing lights for the roof and "turbo" badges for the rear. It truly is a thing of beauty.

changagoidem Features | changagoidem.ie in China - just arrived

I'm in China for the week with Mercedes-Benz taking part in its F-Cell World Drive. That's the circumnavigation of the globe in a pair of fuel cell powered B-Class Mercs. We're aiming to drive about 1,000km through China. Should be quite an experience. A few 'postautomobileds' from the journey to Beijing for you:

Alright, this could be from any trip we take, but spotted a (very) yellow Ferrari California up for grabs in one of those airport raffle competitions. First time I've seen the automobile in that colour.

That's our new long term test Golf above, in one…

changagoidem Features | New York Auto Show sneak preview

It's getting a bit late to write up all the news from today's New York Auto Show, so here's a sneak preview before we do that tomorrow:

Above is the all-new Jaguar XFR. The whole XF range gets the new nose and other updates. The XJ and XK have also been updated and there's a mighty new XKR-S model.

Here's the new Honda Civic Coup?. I know it's the US-only model, but we're reliably informed that the forthcoming European Civic update is closer in ever in style to the American one. We doubt a coup? will be sold…

New Audi A6: an alternative view

changagoidem Features | New Audi A6: an alternative view

I had the lovely new Audi A6 on test last week. Cracking automobile. It was the 2.0 TDI model, which will undoubtedly be the biggest seller here and it's a decent alternative to the BMW 520d.

Anyway, I drove it to Ennis to the in-laws and got their point of view. Their opinions matter for several reasons (not just because I have to be nice to them...). First up, my brother-in-law drives the previous generation Audi A6 (see below in the background).

Naturally he loved the new automobile. A few things he noticed in comparison to his automobile is…
