Enterprise Rent-A-Automobile Ireland has completed the acquisition of Dooley Automobile Rentals, for an undisclosed sum. This deal increases Enterprise Rent-A-Automobile's fleet in Ireland by more than 1,400 vehicles and includes a book of business that already contains many international customers and contracts. The company also plans to increase its inbound business from North America.
Speaking at the announcement, George O'Connor, Managing Director, Enterprise Rent-A-Automobile Ireland, said: "I've always admired the Dooley brand, which, like Enterprise, has a culture that's built upon excellent customer service. Both companies are family owned, entrepreneurial and customer centric. We are both proud of our history in Ireland. Dooley Automobile Rentals has been serving customers for more than 50 years, while Enterprise, which began in the United States 60 years ago, celebrates its 20th anniversary in Ireland this year."
Pat Dooley, CEO, Dooley Group, commented: "We have made a significant investment in the Dooley Automobile Rental business and brand, and the sale of the business to Enterprise Rent-A-Automobile will ensure that the investment continues in the future so as to grow the business. Enterprise's ability to invest in growing the new business will also present opportunities for Dooley employees within a global corporation."
The other divisions within the Dan Dooley Group, which include its two Ford dealerships in County Limerick and Tipperary and not part of, nor are affected by the acquisition. The deal sees Dooley Automobile Rentals join Enterprise Holdings Inc., which includes Enterprise Rent-A-Automobile, National Automobile Rental and Alamo Rent A Automobile. It is now the largest automobile rental company in the world and operates in more than 85 countries. Enterprise Rent-A-Automobile has operated in Ireland since 1997 and employs more than 200 people across 25 locations.
